On May 20, 2023, GIIS SMART Campus Singapore hosted the 17th graduation ceremony for the IBDP Class of 2023, amidst an atmosphere filled with euphoric cheers. The event, held in two sessions, celebrated the perseverance, dedication, and transformative journey of over 170 graduates.

Distinguished Guests of Honor, Mr KV Rao, ASEAN Resident Director for Tata Sons Private Limited, and Ms Lily Kong, President of Singapore Management University and Lee Kong Chian Chair Professor of Social Sciences, graced the occasion with their inspiring speeches. They emphasised the exciting new world awaiting the graduates and shared invaluable advice to propel them into the next chapter of their lives.

Ms Melissa Maria, SMART Campus Principal, also addressed the students, reminding them of the qualities of a good human being and encouraging them to pursue their passions. Mr Atul Temurnikar, Chairman and Co-Founder of the Global Schools Foundation, delivered a motivating address that encouraged the graduates to take risks and never give up, by citing examples from the remarkable journeys of Jeff Bezos and Walt Disney amongst others.

Student leaders, Pratyush Bansal, Head Boy, and Arohee Temurnikar, Head of Green Initiatives, shared their cherished memories as students of GIIS. The ceremony featured a captivating array of performances, including an enthusiastic band performance and an electrifying dance, which left the audience in awe. As the graduates walked onto the stage to receive special mementos, their excitement and thrill were palpable, resonating through the charged atmosphere and earning them thunderous rounds of applause. Proud parents looked on with immense pride. Towards the end, Ms. Deepa Chandrasekaran, IB Diploma Programme Coordinator, administered the oath that formally declared the graduation of the Class of 2023. This was followed by a delightful surprise—a ceremonial cake cutting symbolising the culmination of the graduates' years in the IB programme.

The event was an overwhelming success, commemorating the remarkable efforts of the graduates, their teachers, parents, and everyone who supported them on their triumphant journey towards becoming global citizens of tomorrow. The memories of this event will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of the graduates, as they embark on their new paths.
