Primary students explore their mathematical prowess during Maths Week

"Math is not about numbers, equations, computations or algorithms: it is about understanding." William Paul Thurston

GIIS SMART Campus organised Maths Week in the week of Feb 15, encouraging mathematical learning among young learners. The event was a great success with students from CBSE Grade 1 to 5 engaging in various interactive activities and games related to maths.

The week-long event witnessed the students partaking in several fun number games, working on 2D and 3D shapes, solving crossword and sudoku puzzles, and researching the life and work of famous Indian mathematicians such as Ramanujan and Aryabhata. They also presented their findings to their peers and teachers, highlighting the invaluable contributions of these mathematicians to the fields of mathematics, astronomy, and sciences.

To commemorate the occasion, the first edition of Mathzine 2023 was published, which is a sincere effort of the school to showcase creativity of primary students while they are engaged in hands-on activities and solving mathematical problems. Overall, the event successfully piqued the students' interest in mathematics and encouraged them to take their knowledge of the subject to the next level.

GIIS has always emphasised the importance of students’ holistic development by providing various platforms for them to explore their interests and skills. Events and initiatives like this are not only educational but also offer a fun and interactive experience that takes the learnings of the students to the next level.
