The awarding ceremony of GIIS SMART Campus took place at the Multi-Purpose Hall on 30th April 2021, felicitating hundreds of students for their excellent performances and talents showcased during the academic year 2020-21. The event commenced with a video featuring the latest motive of GIIS to imbibe the concept of RISE in its students - RISE as leaders of tomorrow with the virtues of Respect, Integrity, Skill-Development and Empathy.

Ms Pratibha then addressed the audience and welcomed the parents, students and educators. The felicitation ceremony then started as students enthusiastically waited in the queue for their names to get announced. GSA has seven categories under which a student is recognised for their excellent performances. The categories are as follows:

1. Dr APJ Abdul Kalam GIIS Award for Academic Proficiency
2. Professor MGK Menon GIIS Award for Academic Proficiency
3. Subject Proficiency Award
4. Justice CS Dharmadhikari GIIS Award for Co-Curricular Excellence
5. Chandrakant Borde GIIS Award for Sports Excellence
6. GSF President's Award for All-Round Excellence
7. Awards in Multiple Categories

During the pandemic, even though the MPH looked empty, the students were high in spirit. The proud parents of the excellent students did not miss the marvellous event due to the boundaries set by COVID as the GSA was telecasted live on Zoom, YouTube and Facebook. The charm on the face of prize-winners was a spectacular view. 

Ms Pratibha said, “Letting go off 2020 with a renewed resolve to be human, to survive together, to learn together and persevere in the many beginnings that we are still to see marks the birth of an all-powerful conscious era for us." She motivated everyone to put consistent efforts to achieve success no matter what the situation may be. 

The GSA has and continues to inspire students to inculcate the virtues and qualities of a true leader and give outstanding performances. One of the awardees said, “Being honoured at the GSA is a proud moment for everyone and students give their best for it. The trophies, medals and certificates are a motivation to strive for a better self.”
