The PYP students of GIIS SMART Campus celebrated Social Studies Week from October 4 to 8, providing the students a fun and engaging way of studying the subject.

The students engaged in various activities during the week. The students researched about various topics such as biomes, landforms, countries and cultures of the world, etc. They presented their findings in the form of brochures, posters and even creative methods like songs and rhymes.

Students also dressed up as historical figures and showcased their costumes during the celebrations. Some also included their parents in the celebrations, having presented pictures of them on a “dinner date” with the historical figure chosen by the student.

All in all, the week long celebrations proved to be a great way to engage the students while also educating them on the various aspects of Social Studies as a subject. The 9 GEMS pedagogy that GIIS follows has always emphasised on the importance of learning outside of classrooms, and such activities prove to be an effective way to instil the love for learning in the young minds.
