GIIS SMART Campus won the first place in the International Under-8 category and overall second place in the 60th National Inter-School Team Chess Championship 2019 held on 11th of September.

Thirty-three teams from different schools participated in the contest that was organised by Singapore Chess Federation at the Rulang Primary School.

Here are the names of winners from GIIS who outplayed at the tournament:

• Shrenik Mallick, Grade 3A
• Nivaan Khandhadia, Grade 2E
• Haresh Venkata, Grade 2, PYP
• Manan Dhyani, Grade 2E

The school was presented with a trophy and each team member received 2 medals, Gold for the first place in the U-8 category in the International School Segment and Silver for securing overall second place in the tournament.

Under the 9GEMS pedagogy of GIIS, students with varied talents are encouraged to shine bright and achieve recognition on a larger platform.
