February updates and insights on exam preparation

Dear Parents,

Every year by February, students gear up for the end-of-year examinations, marking a critical period for them. Preparation for this is not only about achieving good grades but also about fostering effective learning habits and acquiring valuable skills for the future.

However, before we delve into the nitty gritty of exam preparations, let’s take a look at some of the events this month at GIIS.

We had the honour of hosting Dr Kiran Bedi, India's First Woman IPS Officer, as part of the Leadership Lecture Series. Dr Bedi offered students insights into time management and motivation during the interactive session and panel discussion.

The GIIS Singapore University Fair 2024 provided a golden opportunity for our students to connect with representatives from 14 esteemed Singapore universities covering 22 schools. This event enabled them to  engage in one-on-one interactions with admission officers to gather insights into the application process and learn about potential scholarship opportunities.

Students and teachers absolutely loved the extremely energetic and charmingly chaotic presentation of Macbeth by the Handlebards. The Handlebards are  UK based Shakespearean actors who carry all of their set, props, and costumes on the back of their bikes and perform environmentally sustainable Shakespeare plays.

Now back to the end-of-year examinations. The manner and timing of students’ study sessions can significantly impact their learning outcomes and performance. We understand it can feel overwhelming at times. Therefore it is essential to approach studying with a strategic mindset, ensuring that sufficient time is allocated to each subject and topic. Maintaining a positive attitude and staying focused will be key to success.

As parents, your support is invaluable during this period. Encourage your child to maintain a balanced routine, including adequate rest and exercise. Creating a conducive study environment at home can enhance focus and productivity.

To our students, exams are not just a test of knowledge but also an opportunity to showcase your skills and abilities. Approach each exam with confidence, knowing you have prepared diligently.

Let us all remain supportive of each other during this exam season. Together, we can ensure our students are well-prepared for their exams and the challenges ahead.

Good luck to all our students! We believe in you and know that you will do your best!

Regards,
