On February 7 and 8, PYP Grade 5 students at the SMART Campus impressively showcased their knowledge and skills during the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition. This pivotal event marked the culmination of their PYP education, featuring a diverse array of projects under the theme 'Future at Our Fingertips.'

Each year, the PYP Exhibition at GIIS takes on a unique form, reflecting the diverse voices, imaginations, and interests of the student body. This practice underscores the school's commitment to honouring student input and the distinctiveness of each cohort. The focus this year was on visually documenting the process of learning and exploration, leading to a meticulous selection of photographs representing the investigative journey of each group.

The exhibition covered a broad spectrum of topics, including the circular economy, functions of the brain, fast fashion, sustainable music, art music and sport therapy, animal abuse, the experiences of third culture kids, resilience, and more. These subjects were chosen by the students as part of their independent inquiries, culminating in a comprehensive understanding of each theme.

Achieving deep learning is a challenging endeavour, requiring students to metaphorically navigate through a ‘learning pit’ of exploration and discovery. This rigorous process enabled them to confidently articulate their findings, both through photographic exhibitions and personal websites. 

The PYP Exhibition, along with similar initiatives at GIIS, is designed to offer students opportunities to reflect on their educational journey within the IB PYP framework. The programme's student-centric approach fosters a supportive learning environment, encouraging students to pursue their objectives and nurturing them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
