Communication and collaboration: Keys to students' educational journey

Dear Parents,

As we start the new academic year, it is time to look back into the things we did right and the things we can improve upon.

GIIS has always been a strong advocate of teaching the skills of communication and collaboration to students. We have done that successfully as well, by giving a good platform to students through events like LLS, and exposure through podcast and video streaming.

These are avenues which will help students understand their own strengths, know what they want to do in future and chase their dreams.

At this juncture, it becomes crucial for students to communicate with teachers and parents about their future goals, and seek direction. Bridging the gap between creating platforms of communication and actual communication can be a challenge. It takes effort to understand students’ aspirations, nudge them towards their destinies.

As a school, and as educators, our job is to be a facilitator without trying to influence the outcome.  But this is a collaborative effort with parents, who seek an active role in their child’s important decisions. Creating regular and frequent forums where parents can talk to teachers, listen to their children, and industry experts can interact with both children and parents - is one way to have good communication and collaborative channels. The effort will be to increase the frequency of these forums, and maybe make them  a mandatory part of a child’s educational journey.

As the world is rapidly changing, the jobs that students will grow up and take are not even there yet. This makes it even more essential for parents and teachers to understand their children and their aspirations.

By working together and creating open lines of communication, we can ensure that all parties are in agreement on a child’s educational journey, leading to a successful and fulfilling future for them.

From next month onwards, our academic leadership team will be taking over the task of writing these newsletters. I am confident that their expertise and insights will bring a fresh perspective to our communications.

I would like to thank you for your continued support and dedication to your child's education and look forward to collaborating with you and creating a strong partnership that will benefit your child both now and in the future.

Together, we can make a difference in their lives and help them achieve their goals.
