CBSE primary students celebrate Earth Day with fun-filled activities

In the spirit of celebrating Earth Week, the GIIS SMART Campus organised  a plethora of activities for the CBSE primary students, during the week of April 18-22. The students showcased their creativity and participated in the activities with full enthusiasm.

The Grade 1 and 2 students took part in the Little Eco- Footprints and Mighty Green Waves activities. As part of the Little Eco-Footprints, the students made recycled bins using empty containers whereas, for the Mighty Green Wave activity, the young learners made beautiful posters on several eco-friendly ideas.

For the Grade 3-5 students, Planeteers and Green Samaritan competitions were organised. As part of the Planeteers activity, the students made reusable items, using plastic bottles as their main component while for the Green Samaritans, the students presented their project/ business ideas on sustainable Singapore. They also shared inspirational stories of famous environmental activists.

The week-long celebrations culminated on April 22, 2022, as students performed on stage appreciating Mother Earth. Ms. Padmarani, who has been associated with GIIS for a long time was the esteemed guest of honour and joined the event virtually. She encouraged the students to protect our environment. The event came to a fruitful conclusion as the winners of the competitions were awarded certificates appreciating their efforts.

GIIS always emphasises the importance of fostering young learners with all-around development, through its 9 Gems pedagogy. The activities were organised with an emphasis to create environmental awareness and inculcate the right values among the students through the school's holistic curriculum.
