2020 a valuable lesson in resilience and adaptability

Trust the magic of new beginnings!

Dear parents,

As we inch closer to 2021, we hope and wish that the New Year will bring in its magic and make the world a safer place once again!

This has been a tough year for many. Our patience has been tested through new and disruptive challenges. But, we have not given up and we continue to sail through. That’s the beauty of humankind.

And so: Resilience!

That is our motto for the year and it has been exemplified by the students. They have adapted swiftly to virtual learning and the challenges it brings. Preparing for examinations is tough, but it's even harder when teachers are behind screens and other digital distractions.

Yet they have studied diligently and hard. November is the month of exams, and many hours were spent revising and testing. Even the exams had a different approach — all of them were set through Google Forms, which I'm sure was a novel experience for both students and teachers!

But academics alone has never been the sole target at GIIS. To support all-round development, we arranged many different activities for students this month. One highlight was the most-awaited HiQ quiz, which also went virtual this year. The student teams came well prepared and answered with gusto as their classmates cheered on. It was wonderful to see everyone's enthusiasm.

We celebrated Diwali with just as much fervor as we do every year. The classes were beautifully decorated and there were many wonderful wishes adorning the class boards. It was a splendid burst of colors everywhere!

We also celebrated Christmas early, before the students leave for their holiday break. They sang carols and converted their classes into winter-themed wonderlands. Snow designs, Santa Claus, and shiny Christmas trees!

These celebrations brought festive cheer to all as we marked the end of the school year, and bade goodbye to months of gloom.

With this note, I wish you all a very happy, safe and restful holiday!
