Rivers have always been the lifeline of our communities, providing water, supporting ecosystems, and holding immense cultural significance. With this thought in mind, the students of Grade 8B conducted a special assembly on the theme “Save Rivers – Youth for Ganga and Youth for Yamuna” to raise awareness about river conservation and environmental responsibility.
The assembly began with a warm welcome to the Principal, Vice Principal, coordinators, teachers, and fellow students. The school prayer and ceremonial lamp lighting set a positive and reflective tone for the programme.
The Thought of the Day reminded everyone of the value of water and the importance of preserving it for future generations. Students then spoke about the significance of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna, not only as important water sources but also as symbols of India's rich heritage and culture.
The highlight of the assembly was a series of creative and thought-provoking performances by the students. Through speeches, poems, dances, a skit, and an impactful nukkad natak, they brought attention to the growing problem of river pollution and its consequences on people, wildlife, and the environment. Their performances encouraged the audience to reduce plastic usage, conserve water, and adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives.
One of the key messages of the programme was the important role young people can play in protecting the environment. The students emphasised that even small actions, when taken collectively, can create a meaningful impact and contribute towards a cleaner and healthier future.
The enthusiasm, confidence, and creativity displayed by the participants were appreciated by everyone present. The assembly concluded with a pledge by students to save water, protect rivers, and become responsible guardians of the environment.
The programme served as a powerful reminder that protecting our natural resources is a shared responsibility. Through initiatives like these, students are learning not only about environmental conservation but also about the importance of taking action and making a difference in the world around them.
