A Week of Stories, Words, and Wonder at GIIS Noida

Intending to spark joy in reading and storytelling, the English Department of GIIS Noida organised the English Literary Week for classes I and II. The five-day event featured engaging activities that helped our students feel connected to stories and introduced them to authors, vocabulary, and imaginative thinking in a meaningful manner.

The week began with picture visualisation, where students observed story-related images and expressed their ideas using simple sentences. This engaging activity sparked curiosity, boosted imagination, and encouraged children to express themselves with confidence.

On the second day, students enjoyed a lively "Meet the Author" session focused on the renowned author Sudha Murthy. A teacher dressed as an author interacted with students about her life and love for reading stories, while also sharing messages of kindness. This session helped children understand that stories are inspired by real people and everyday experiences.

A lively storytelling session followed on the next day, where the teacher narrated the stories using an expressive voice and gestures. The activity developed stronger listening and comprehension skills in students. On the fourth day, Word Wizard Day encourages students to explore new vocabulary by creating colourful flashcards, making vocabulary learning fun and interesting.

The week concluded with an engaging role play that built confidence and teamwork among the students. The experience helped students grow their language skills while discovering the happiness of learning through stories.
