Young kids learn the value of helping others, do a nature walk and a plantation drive

Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida believes that value based learning is the best way of teaching young minds the virtues and morals that shape up their personality, and make them unique and humble in their approach towards life. Individuals who have been given the right moral values teaching become successful and are balanced in whatever they do and believe.

To promote moral values among the youngest members of the GIIS Noida family, a series of activities were conducted throughout a week in September 2018, to teach things that books cannot. These activity were as follows:

MGCUV Activity

Every month the school follows a MGCUV theme to familiarize tiny toddlers of GIIS Noida with moral values that not only make them a good human being but also help them in understanding their role of a responsible citizen of the country.

A story telling session was conducted by the pre-primary teachers based on the moral value of helping others. The concept was introduced in a fun way to help the students understand why ‘helping others’ is important for us and what can be done to make someone happy.

The teachers enacted the story was of a boy who is very ill and is suffering greatly due to his no movement in his body. One fine day he gazes out of his bedroom’s window to witness different animals doing funny things that made him burst out of laughter. The strange characters he saw helped in putting joy back in his heart, and in his body. His health had improved so much that he was able to go back to school again. He shared his experience with his school friends and while doing so he noticed something unusual popping out of his friend’s school bag; he found out that the characters he saw outside his window were nobody else than his own friends dressed up in fancy suits to disguise him and make him well all over again.

Nature Walk

To reinforce the concept of plants and to give students exposure to the natural surroundings, little munchkins of the school were taken for a nature walk in the school premises where they got a chance to observe various kinds of plants like big trees, shrubs, herbs and grass. They learnt about creepers and climbers too.

Children even touched and felt the texture of different leaves, barks and stems. The Nature walk helped them to reinforce their learning about different kinds of plants, what do plants need to grow, the germination process, benefits of plants around us, and so much more.

Plantation Drive

Pre Primary wing staff of the school organized a plantation drive for pre-nursery, nursery and KG students of the school in the premises itself with an objective of taking the young minds into the world of plants and educate them with the importance of plants in our lives; children were also sensitized on various ways that can be adopted to take care of the plants that makes their life longer.

It was an enjoyable experience for the students as they enjoyed planting seeds for various trees and plants, and were delighted to see plants of different varieties like jamun, tomato, Tulsi, aloe vera etc. A special discussion was kept to educate students with information that can help them in taking good care of plants; they were told about various facts and the things plants need to grow. Children enjoyed learning about various tools that can be used for gardening (like shovel, water sprayers, etc.) and watering the plants they named while planting.
