UTOPIA – Annual Day celebrations held for Pre-Primary and Grade 1

The pre-primary wing of GIIS Noida celebrated their second virtual Annual day on the theme UTOPIA – The Spectrum of Life that began with a lot of excitement and vigour. The presentations revolved around the significance of the rainbow colours in our life. The program was graced by Ms. Urmi Battu (Founder, Urmi School of Music in New Jersey, United States) and Ms. Vaishali Borde (Co-scholastics Head, GIIS India) as Guest of Honour.

Students beautifully presented a story that revolved around colours who argued with each other and considered themselves to be the best without realizing that they had a spectator i.e. Sun watching them from above. The Sun expressed his sadness and tried to explain each colour the value they hold and how each one of them has a place in the universe. He hid himself behind the clouds to express the sadness which further gave thunder an opportunity to come forth and help all the colours understand the importance of happy days; the presentation progressed with Nature looping in to help all the colours come forth one after the other and share what they feel about themselves. This led to another argument which brought in a heavy rain.

All the colours got scared and cuddled in to feel protected and safe with one another. Mother nature then explained how each one of them are different and yet hold a special place and purpose. She further emphasised on the power of unity and how god stretches colours across the sky to form a beautiful show colours called the rainbow that reminds us all that we are the creatures of God, and he loves us all equally. Hence, one must always live in peace and harmony, and learn to appreciate one another for their uniqueness and vivacity.

Grade 1 students also celebrated their second virtual Annual day with equal zest and aplomb as the celebrations began with students singing theme song – all things bright and beautiful. The program was graced by Mr. Pradeep Sardana- (Distinguished Journalist and Film Critic) and Ms. Vaishali Borde (Co-scholastics Head, GIIS India) as Guest of Honour.

The presentation began with students from each grade depicting the five elements of nature i.e. space, water, air, fire, and earth. Students also gave a scintillating dance performance on song named ROAR. Students also pledged to save the mother Earth and make it a better place for humans.

The presentation also included students elaborating the importance of five elements present in our body and how each element impacts our wellbeing. Students emphasised on the existence and balance of these elements for our body to function well. To conclude their presentation, students set the virtual stage alive by performing a dance number on the song I Am Alive. Lastly, students from the art and craft club presented beautiful pieces of artwork which they had created over the full academic year.

The whole idea behind these gala virtual celebrations was to enable students work on their self-confidence and prepare them for the stage presentation. Such activities help students become independent and also help them in enhancing their creative and imaginative skills. They get to improvise their speaking and presentation skills, and learn new words that adds up to their vocabulary. Students learn team work and collaboration which also gives them a chance to enhance their emotional and social skills.
