GIIS, Noida observed Mathematics and IT Week by conducting an array of activities for the senior segment of the school. These activities are conducted every year to celebrate Srinivas Ramanujan’s birthday who was one of India’s greatest mathematical geniuses who made substantial contributions to analytical theory of numbers.
To promote his teachings and work in Mathematics, several enriching and interesting activities were planned and executed throughout the week. The activities were conducted day wise, as follows:
Day 1: In order to integrate Mathematics with art and enhance creative skills students were engaged in Poster Making Competition on any topic associated with their syllabus. Students turned up with vibrant and innovative ideas where they compressed the entire topic as concept map.
Grade 10 students were enthralled in making mathematical games, puzzle, crossword in the IT lab using online tools, to explore their creative side.
Day- 2: students were engrossed in making Power Point Presentation on different topics where Mathematics finds its application- Islamic Art and Monuments, Tessellations, Impact of Math on wider world.
Day -3: To commemorate Mathematics and IT Week and acknowledge students’ creativity, a special assembly was organized for the students of grade 9 -12 who enjoyed playing “Roman Tambola” and “Quiz” based on topics based on the theme. Students were awarded prizes for various competitions organized during the week.
The Vice Principal Ms. Mrignayani Magotra addressed the students for their active participation and hard work of teachers that led to successful culmination of Mathematics and IT week. She also expressed her gratitude towards the Mathematics and IT department for such a smooth execution of the entire event.
