Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida celebrated the World Sanskrit Day, also known as Sanskrit Diwas. A special assembly was presented by the middle and senior school students (classes from grade 6 onwards) for the same. This event aimed to promote the value and importance of the language that is considered to be more than 3500 years old. Sanskrit is considered to be an ancient Indian language and is said to be a base for languages like Nepali, Bengali, Marathi, Hindi, Punjabi, etc. It is also known to be the main liturgical language of Hinduism and is believed to be linked with ancient extinct languages like Greek and Latin. The special assembly started with “Saraswati Vandana” performed by grade 6 and 7 students. Grade 9 pupils shared some interesting facts and figures about this ancient language, which left the audience to wonder why this language has lost its charm in the current world. A beautiful musical song rendition was also presented by the students and was then followed by a short skit 'Vriksharopan' . The skit was a way of involving students to learn about the topic as well as to show their creative skills and talents on the stage. Lastly, students even shared a few Sanskrit shlokas along with their meanings in the assembly that left a lasting impression on students mind. This assembly served as a perfect medium of educating students about the ancient culture of our country; be it monuments or languages, everything old is gold for us Indians and we all must always strive to keep it alive and protected. |
