The pre-primary wing of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida observed Earth day in May 2018, by conducting a special assembly and a range of other activities in campus.

In the special assembly, tiny tots of KG-E came forward and shared their thoughts on how Earth and its natural resources like water, electricity, trees, etc. must be saved. Children then dramatized a short story on humanity which was narrated by teachers. The intent was to bring out the message of saving humanity, for humans need to understand that there is prosperity in living with harmony. It will make Earth happy. Rhymes on Earth followed next.

The objective was to make students understand the value of Earth and how important it is for continuity of the human life. Its natural resources are essential for survival and are depleting due to unworthy practices of the human race. Hence, educating students on the same becomes all the more imperative. By carrying out such different activities students got a chance to form a personal connect with the environment and feel responsible for conserving the same.

Interactive activities were conducting in class i.e. circle time, during which the students were educated about saving electricity, switching off lights and fans while not in use, not wasting water, planting more trees, tagging AC and switches, etc. Teachers recited rhymes on saving Earth, for it is our home. This way little kids got to understand the value of our natural resources and also learnt to save the environment in their own little way.  A short video on save Earth, water and electricity was also shown in the AV room.

Lastly, a craft activity was conducted by the respective class teachers i.e. hand painting on chart paper depicting Mother Earth and create a collage of pictures and slogans depicting “Why is Earth getting destroyed and what all we can do to save it“.
