A Journalism and Media masterclass was conducted for Grade 10 students of GIIS Noida. The session was led by Dr. Divya Jha from Bennett University. The session aimed to introduce students to the dynamic field of journalism and mass communication, broadening their understanding beyond conventional roles.

Dr. Jha began by offering insights into the evolving media landscape, highlighting how digital platforms have transformed the industry. She emphasised that journalism today extends far beyond traditional reporting and anchoring, opening doors to diverse and impactful career paths.

The session explored emerging fields such as Digital Journalism, Public Relations and Corporate Communication, Brand Storytelling, and Investigative and Data Journalism. Through these discussions, students gained an understanding of how storytelling, communication, and analytical skills are essential across industries.

She also underlined the importance of critical thinking, ethical reporting, creativity, and adaptability in building a successful career in media. Supported by real-world examples, the session was both engaging and relatable for students.

The interactive format encouraged active participation, with students asking questions and exploring their interests in media and communication. Many showed curiosity about pursuing careers in the field and the skills they should begin developing at the school level.
