GIIS Noida Pre-Primary activities at a glance; Montessori learning made interesting

This week was full of activities and learnings for our tiny tots of the pre-primary wing at Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida. Multiple activities were conducted including the special assemblies on good manners and the value of happiness in one's life and an engaging red day celebration to introduce our little munchkins with all things red.

Special assembly on the value of “Good Manners”

‘’Good Manners costs nothing but means everything”

The first special assembly of the new academic session was led by KG-A students and began with seeking blessings from the Almighty followed by sharing of the thought of day and news for the week.Little stars of KG- A depicted a role play on the importance of good manners in our life and how it transforms one’s character. The younger batch of the school got our mind horses to pause and rethink about how we, as adults, behave and react to people / situations all around.

Special assembly on the value of happiness

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Happiness is not on the outside, it a feeling one experiences within the inside. Tiny tots of KG - B conducted a special assembly to bring out the importance of happiness in our lives. Happy song “clap your hands” set the mood happy as the assembly began on a positive note. One by one, students step forward to share their meaning of happiness and things that make them happy every day.

Role play on the theme and a happy dance on the song “Raindrops” concluded the special assembly with smiles and laughter all around. Children taught us a very simple and yet important way of living the life i.e. being happy no matter what you have in life.

 Red Day celebrations

Red is the colour for the month of April, and to reinforce the identification of the colour among students of the pre-primary wing, Red Day was celebrated in classes with a lot of fun activities and engagement.

The colour red was introduced in pre-nursey and nursery classes; teachers and students came dressed in the colour red and the classes were decorated with red coloured objects like balloons, dupattas, ribbons, etc. just to make the students familiar with different red coloured objects they see around them every day. Red coloured drinks and fruits like apples, strawberries, cherries, tomatoes, ketch-up, etc. were shown to help them identify the colour in their natural environment.

At the end of the day, a red-colored flower on a Popsicle stick was given to all as a take-away for the theme of the month. This activity not only helped children in identifying the color in their daily surroundings, but also help them correlate the things learnt in class.
