Cross Campus lesson for Grade 12 students

A cross-campus session was attended by the students of Global Indian International School (GIIS). The session was on the topic Diffraction and was conducted for the students of grade 12. Students of Noida, Surat and Kuala Lumpur campuses attended this session.

The session was taken by Ms Anuradha Rawat - PGT, Physics of GIIS SMART campus, Punggol to help students understand the concept with clarity and precision.

The interactive class helped students understand that as light, or any wave passes a barrier, the waveform gets distorted at the boundary edge. If the wave passes through a gap, more obvious distortion can be seen. As the gap width approaches the wavelength of the wave, the distortion becomes even more obvious. This process is known as diffraction. If the diffracted light is projected onto a screen some distance away, then interference between the light waves creates a distinctive pattern (the diffraction pattern) on the screen. The nature of the diffraction pattern depends on the nature of the gap (or mask) which diffracts the original light wave.

The students got to know the nature of the intensity pattern created due to diffraction.  The Cross-Campus class proved quite beneficial for all the students. The subject expert Ms Anuradha gave her insights related to the topic and also helped students to understand the question pattern on the topic as per the latest CBSE pattern.

Students asked questions and took notes for their understanding. This session aimed to help students prepare for their final Board exams.
