Chess aspirant Riya Pachouri and U-12 Cricket team of Global Indian International School (GIIS), Noida add more stars to the sports’ hall of fame by winning various accolades and titles in the respective tournaments played at an inter-school/city level in May 2018.

Riya Pachouri, a student of grade 8th, is a chess enthusiast and has been winning laurels in the name of school from quite some time now. She recently participated in the District Chess Championship, 2018 held at the Presidium School, Noida. After playing several rounds and giving a bottle neck competition to her counterparts, she bagged the 2nd position in the tournament and is all set to represent the school in state level chess championships. She will now be playing at the UP State level Chess Championship, 2018.

Similarly, Under-12 Cricket Team of the school participated in a three series cricket tournament i.e. the Grads Cricket Cup held at Grads International School, Greater Noida. Our team won two matches against Sumit Dogra Cricket Academy and Saba Karim Cricket Academy, Noida respectively. Two players from the U-12 team got awarded for their wonderful performance in the matches played. Shivam Nagar was awarded with Best Bowler and Man of the match title for his outstanding contribution in the game played against Sumit Dogra Academy and Saba Karin Cricket Academy. Aryan Madan, on the other hand was awarded with Best Batsman title for his outstanding performance in the match played against Saba Karim Cricket Academy.

All the cricket enthusiasts at GIIS Noida are trained professionally as a part of the Chandu Borde Global Cricket Academy (CGBCA) where each one of them gets proper training and support from skilled coaches, who are handpicked for delivering quality training to students within the school by none other than Mr. Chandu Borde himself. Chess enthusiasts too are regularly taught and trained in the in-house Chess Academy put up to help budding chess players refine their skills and knowledge about the game.
