On the 27th of September, the Career Counseling and University guidance team hosted an event at GIIS Noida.

Three universities from The University of California participated in the event. Ms Pimjai Santatiwat Director for International Outreach at UC Irvine, Ms Astha , International Student Recruitment Adviser at UC Riverside and Ms. Samichya International Program Officer supporting UC Santa Cruz visited the GIIS Noida campus

It was a detailed session about the application and admission process, helping the students gain a clear understanding of it. The event started with an overview about California and its location. First Ms.Pimjai talked about the process at UC Irvine, discussing the courses offered and the timeline that the students need to look out for. Next Ms. Astha explained the same for UC Riverside and lastly Ms. Samichya talked about recruitment at UC Santa Cruz.

The reps also discussed the Personal Interview Questions that a student is required to submit along with their application. Important dates, documents required, scholarships offered to students, courses offered were some of the topics that were elaborated by the reps.

Students really enjoyed the session and had a lot of questions for the University Team. It was an interactive discussion. Students got to learn about the different programs offered at the university, the criteria for the scholarships offered and the various opportunities offered by the University. The transfer system in the UC’s was also brought up and highlighted by the team. They also gave the students an overview on how to fill out the application form for admissions.

The university team also put out their brochures and goodies for students to refer to for further information.

Overall the session was really informative and gave the students good insight about student life at University of California. They became aware of the scholarships offered, the difference amongst the 3 campuses, the acceptance rate of the different campuses and the overall placement opportunities.
