Dear students and parents,

In this world full of hate and war, Independence seem to have lost its true substance. What is the importance of Independence to you? Have you ever pondered upon? What importance does being free from a third part dictatorship mean to you? Are we utilizing our freedom the way it should be? When I talk about Independence and freedom, several questions like these hit my mind back and forth. As humans are we doing justice to what our soldiers and leaders have given us by sacrificing their lives?

When we cite that we have become independent from the clutches of British rulers, we say it with much pride and honour. But this independence came to us after a lot of sacrifice and patience. For me, being independent is all about the feeling of being responsible for your actions and deeds. Mere singing and dancing on 15th August doesn’t fulfil the purpose. We must continuously strive towards inner happiness and work towards becoming a good human being first. Everything else will follow. If one is humble and kind, and loves and cares for people around him/her, then he/she is bound to be a good citizen at the end of the day.

In this era of information explosion, we must take the ownership of our deeds i.e. exercise freedom of thought, expression, etc. with much caution and purpose. Whatever we do, reflects upon our character and personality. People often assume that if they aren’t doing the duties right, someone else will. They fail to realise that even their slightest of effort counts. The journey of change starts from oneself, and the world follows.

So, as agents of change, let’s pledge to initiate the change by improving ourselves making our country one of the biggest examples of humanity, diversity, unity, endurance, and capacity. Let’s make our country independent in every respect, as it’s our responsibility to protect and take forward the country’s culture and ethics.

“Be the change you want to see in the world” – Mahatma Gandhi
