Earth Day Observed at GIIS Noida!

Earth Day

“The wealth of the nation is its air, water, soil, forests, minerals, rivers, lakes, oceans, scenic beauty, wildlife habitats and biodiversity... that’s all there is. That’s the whole economy. That’s where all the economic activity and jobs come from. These biological systems are the sustaining wealth of the world.” - Gaylord Nelsons

An environment to breathe, grow and nurture oneself is required by one and all. Over the past few years, the green factors (trees, plantation, etc.) have been depleting from Earth, making the very existence of the human race extremely difficult. Natural conditions like changing weather patterns, global warming, less of fresh air available, etc. have become more worse due to the increased deforestation and misuse of the green resources available.

To promote saving of the natural resources of the Mother Earth, Earth Day was observed with full enthusiasm at GIIS Noida. All the students from the primary wing participated in a special event organized in support of the Earth Day in the school premises.

The event started with seeking blessings from the almighty through prayers, followed by an informative presentation by the students. The presentation discussed the need of preserving our natural resources, there importance in our life and how preserving them has become a necessity of our endangered existence.

A short mime on “Save Water” was also presented by GIIS Noida students, where in the issues relative to water usage and preservation were discussed. Children, very aptly presented the message i.e. Save Water, so that our future generations can efficiently use it for their well-being and existence. They depicted a scenario where farmers and states were effected by water shortage. Post the mime presentation, a special song on saving Earth was also sung by the school choir.

Last but not the least, quiz on the same theme was organized for students, who played in groups of four houses. They were questioned on general Earth relative questions in the first and second rounds. Third round was make and show, where children had to create something creative out of a newspaper using their hands and imagination.

On a whole, children understood the true significance of why Earth Day is celebrated and how natural resources are worthy of preserving.
