Independence Day is celebrated every year at the school campuses to educate and remind the students about the nation@aps@s Independence movement to free India from the British Empire on 15th August 1947 and pay homage to the great leaders who played an inspiring role towards freedom of our country " India" and taking it forward. The bond of brotherhood and the need to live in communal harmony for the growth and prosperity of the land.
The teachers of Pre-Primary classes sang in chorus the National song “Vande Maatram”. Students of class I sang “ Jhanda unchcha rahe hamara” and class II danced on “Suno Gaur se duniya waalo”. The little ones of Pre-primary were dressed as famous leaders and they danced with flair on the patriotic song “Desh Rangila Rangila, Desh Mera Rangila”. The programme commenced with flag hoisting by the Chief Guest Mrs Usha Thakur Founder of Manav Poort Nyas and Guest of Honour Mrs. Sushma Singhvi founder of Gunj along with Mr. Rajeev Katyal, Country Director India unfurled the National flag and all in unison sang the national anthem led by the school choir. The much awaited moment of the day was the Inter-house patriotic song and dance competitions by students from classes III to VIII. Rendering a great start to the day’s programme and adding to the essence of the feeling of patriotism in every heart was the declamation of Jawaharlal Nehru’s “At the stroke of midnight” speech - presented by Sameeksha Srivastava of grade 6. Akshat Srivastav of grade 7 presented an excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr’s speech “I have a dream “. Students dressed in the three colours of the flag, added to the patriotic fervour of the day.
“Long years ago, we made a tryst with destiny, and now, the time comes to redeem our pledge, not wholly or in full measure but very substantially”. -These words of first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru that reverberates in the patriotic fervour on 69th Independence Day. Every heart was filled with love for the nation and a will to do their best.
