B.R. Ambedkar said - “Cultivation of mind should be the ultimate aim of human existence”.
Dr. Ambedkar was a man of many virtues. He was a jurist, economist, politician, and a social reformist. Popularly known as Babasaheb, he was a man of social substance who became India’s first ever independent law minister and principal architect of the Indian Constitution. He was the one who sparked The Dalit Buddhist movement in 1956. Dr. Ambedkar was against social discrimination, for which he even supported Dalits while supporting equality for women and labourers.
To pay tribute to his contributions made, GIIS Noida celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti on 13th April, 2016 in the school premises. A special assembly was conducted to commemorate his teachings and works by Grade 8 students of the school. The assembly started with a prayer to seek blessings from the Almighty after which Ms. Manisha Bhaggee (Academic Coordinator, Primary) addressed the students. Here she explained the impact and significance Babasaheb had during his times.
Moving further, a special presentation was made by the students to explain significance of the day and how Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s teachings can help us in our daily lives.
Post Ambedkar Jayanti’s celebrations, Baisakhi was also celebrated with equal fervour and emotion. Children prepared a presentation on Baisakhi signifying importance of celebrating this festival in our country, and much more. Following the presentation was a beautiful dance performance given by the students which depicted colors and festivities of the occasion as celebrated in India every year.
The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, where all the students and teachers sang with honour and pride!
