With the emphasis on creating a green eco-friendly learning environment for students, GIIS Bannerghatta has always promised to deliver world-class education to all students being in close harmony with Nature always.
April 22 marks the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, which was first celebrated in 1970 to raise awareness about environmental issues. People around the globe have honored the Earth and supported environmental initiatives on this day. Even though we may be stuck inside and unable to participate in group activities this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, GIIS took the initiative to save the earth.
Children of GIIS Bannerghatta from Nursery to Grade 4 celebrated this Earth Day. The theme chosen was “RESTORE EARTH”. They made a small herbal garden in their house and also learned about the benefits of various herbs for a healthy lifestyle.
Few students took a walk around their own backyard garden and observed various plants and animals that flourished in their area and learned how to take care of them for their sustainability and towards building a cleaner and greener Earth.
Since all the children are staying safe at home, they shared their knowledge about recycling waste virtually. They were very confident while explaining how to segregate the waste (wet and dry) and what all we can do to restore our earth, in our own little ways.
Excited to see students participating in large numbers, Dr. Sharmila Mallick, Principal GIIS Bannerghatta said, ‘Mother Earth has always been generous and helped humans experience the best of health and now it is our turn as responsible global citizens to take care of the sanctity of Nature and restore the vision of a paradise-like Earth.’
