Our nursery class was buzzing with excitement as we celebrated Rainbow Day. Children came dressed in bright, colourful outfits, instantly making the classroom cheerful and vibrant.
We introduced the concept of the rainbow colours, encouraging children to explore and ask questions. Many were curious, asking things like, “Why does the rainbow have seven colours?" and “Which colour comes after blue?” Their excitement and eagerness to learn made the session lively and engaging.
To nurture their curiosity and creativity, we had a fun paper-tearing activity where the children created their own rainbows. They explored different colour combinations and patterns while gluing the pieces carefully. With gentle guidance from the teachers, each child was encouraged to express their unique ideas and enjoy the joy of creating.
The children also enjoyed colourful snacks, which added to the festive atmosphere. A takeaway activity reinforced the rainbow colours, allowing children to continue exploring at home.
To encourage teamwork and social skills, we organised group activities where children shared materials, discussed their creations, and celebrated one another’s work. Laughter and curiosity filled the room as they collaborated, helping each other and discovering new things along the way.
Throughout the day, children were learning about colours while developing fine motor skills, observation, and an appreciation for creativity. Their questions, excitement, and stories highlighted their natural curiosity and joy for discovery.
Overall, Rainbow Day was a fun, educational, and memorable celebration, full of colour, creativity, and shared happiness. The children left with a better understanding of the rainbow, happy memories, and a sense of pride in their colourful creations.
