Learning becomes more meaningful when students are given opportunities to present their ideas, creativity, and understanding. With this spirit, the Academic Fair was conducted at the GIIS Bannerghatta campus, bringing together students, teachers, and parents for a lively learning experience.
From the entrance to the classrooms, the campus was decorated with colourful paper cuttings of students’ eyes. This creative display turned into a fun activity where students tried to identify their friends, while parents searched to find their child’s eyes among the many cutouts. Charts, models, and displays prepared by students and teachers added to the vibrant atmosphere across the campus.
Inside the classrooms, students explained their topics and projects to parents and visitors. In one section, students presented the concept of mining using a charcoal board. They explained how minerals are extracted from the earth and pointed out the places where mining takes place.
Another group of students spoke about the solar system. They explained the planets, discussing which ones are closer to the Earth and which are farther away. They also described the conditions on different planets, such as which are extremely hot or very cold, and shared ideas about how scientists explore the possibility of human use in space.
The English section was also active and engaging. Students introduced idioms, explaining their meanings and showing how they are used in sentences. They also taught visitors about the types of sentences in grammar. After the explanations, students conducted quiz rounds. Those who answered correctly received star stickers and a red seal stamp on their hands, which made the activity enjoyable for both children and parents.
Creativity was visible in the working models as well. Students demonstrated a giant wheel model, explaining its mechanism and how similar systems operate in amusement parks. They also described how people enjoy different rides in theme parks.
The younger students were enthusiastic as they showed their activities and explained what they had learnt. Parents watched with pride as their children confidently spoke about their work.
The Academic Fair gave students the chance to share their learning with others. It was a day filled with curiosity, participation, and proud moments for students, parents, and teachers.
