GIIS Tokyo Students Excel at GED and Mock COP 2024

GIIS Tokyo students have achieved outstanding success at the Global Excellence Day (GED) 2024 and the inaugural Mock COP event, organized by the Global Centre for Education Excellence (GCEE) in Singapore. The events, held from 23-25 September 2024, saw participation from over 200 students across 18 campuses from five countries, with GIIS Tokyo students receiving multiple awards for their presentations and contributions.

Global Excellence Day (GED) serves as a platform for students to engage in Student Quality Circles (QC), a framework based on the principles of Total Quality Management and continuous improvement within the Global Schools Group (GSG). Through this initiative, students collaborate to identify challenges and devise practical solutions which will help them to improve logical and analytical skills. The Mock COP event, a simulation of the Global Climate Summit, enables students to discuss pressing climate issues and make collective decisions, mirroring real-world diplomacy. Both events foster collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity among participants.

  • GIIS Tokyo students from the primary, middle, and senior segments participated in both GED and Mock COP. The primary team, consisting of Karen Urakami, Reyansh Keni, and Keshav Bhardwaj, received the Best Topic Award for their project titled "Wakai Farmers," which focused on sustainability and reducing food miles.
  • The middle teamAbhilasha Paul, Nitinpritvi Krsna Sudhindra, Saradha Radhakrishnan, and Ai Hanada—secured the Silver Prize for their project "Yen Gain – The Green Solution," addressing solid waste management.
  • The senior teamSwaraj Koyande, Gautham Bellam, and Kshitij Bhat—won the Gold Award for their project "Community Connect," which explored community engagement solutions.

At the Mock COP event, GIIS Tokyo students also demonstrated excellence. Gautham Bellam was recognised as the Best Collaboration Champion, while Swaraj Koyande was awarded Best Negotiator. In the Eco Showdown segment, which included pre-judged competitions, Naisha Balla was acknowledged for her work in Photography, and Abhilasha Paul for her Essay.

The success of GIIS Tokyo students at these prestigious events highlights the opportunities provided by the Global Schools Group (GSG) framework. GIIS Tokyo students are equipped with the tools and platforms to reach their full potential, benefiting from a global network that supports academic and co-curricular excellence. This comprehensive approach is designed to nurture not only intellectual growth but also critical life skills such as leadership, communication, and problem-solving.

As part of GSG, GIIS is committed to the holistic development of every student, ensuring they are prepared to thrive in a competitive global environment. The focus extends beyond academic success to foster the all-round development of students, encouraging them to engage in meaningful projects and initiatives that promote responsibility and global citizenship.

Congratulations to all the GIIS Tokyo students for their impressive achievements at GED and Mock COP 2024. Your hard work and dedication have brought pride to our school, and we look forward to witnessing your continued success in the future. This recognition reflects GIIS Tokyo's dedication to providing students with opportunities that extend beyond the classroom, fostering well-rounded individuals prepared for future challenges.
