GIIS Tokyo Receives Prestigious EFQM Certification

GIIS Tokyo has been awarded the prestigious European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) certification in August 2024, recognising us as an 'Outstanding Organisation'. This certification is a globally recognised standard for organisational excellence, highlighting our drive for continuous improvement and innovation.

This recognition marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide world-class education and reflects our focus on excellence. As part of the Global Schools Group (formerly Global Schools Foundation - GSF), established in 2002, we continue to uphold the highest standards in K12 education globally. With over 600+ awards for education and organisational excellence, this honour further strengthens our position as a leader in the international educational community.

GIIS Tokyo maintains the highest standards in education, governance, and leadership, an approach which aligns with GSG's mission to provide quality and affordable education to students across the world and to foster strong virtues and values, leading to the holistic development of each student.

Sumit Mishra, the Country Director of Japan and South Korea, stated that the school encourages creativity, individualism, and entrepreneurship among students, aiming to shape them into the leaders of tomorrow. The EFQM certification further validates our commitment to these goals.

The EFQM certification, a globally recognised standard for organisational excellence, is structured around three fundamental questions:

  1. Why does the organisation exist?
  2. How does it deliver on its purpose and strategy?
  3. What has it achieved, and what does it aim to achieve in the future?

The EFQM model promotes a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, which is crucial for long-term success.

Education is becoming increasingly important for everyone to compete in the global marketplace. To meet this challenge, the education sector must adopt and implement quality management methods. Excellence models like EFQM can be effectively applied to help schools continuously improve and enhance their performance.

The EFQM framework equips schools with the tools to maintain high standards and promote continuous improvement, leading to better educational outcomes. By incorporating excellence models, schools can effectively support self-assessment practices and ongoing development, helping them consistently raise their quality of education and strive for higher performance and growth.

At GIIS Tokyo, this framework has helped us assess and enhance our processes, ensuring we consistently meet the highest standards of educational quality. The EFQM certification reflects our ongoing commitment to providing students with a future-ready education. By adopting innovative teaching methods and fostering a culture of continuous learning, GIIS Tokyo remains adaptable to the evolving demands of global education. The EFQM model helps us maintain a strategic approach to delivering value to students, encouraging collaboration and a performance-driven environment.

Ms Madhu Khanna, Principal of GIIS Tokyo, expressed her pride in this achievement, stating that it is an honour to be the first educational institute in Japan to receive this prestigious recognition. She credited the entire team's dedication and hard work for this success and looks forward to using this recognition to further strengthen the school’s commitment to excellence.

This certification is a milestone in our journey and motivates us to continue providing an environment where students can thrive and grow as future leaders. We are excited to build on this success, continuing to offer an exceptional learning experience for our students, guided by the principles of excellence, innovation, and integrity.
