Earth Day event raises awareness on climate change

SINGAPORE, 4 MAY: Miss Earth Singapore 2017 Elizabeth Lee and Miss Earth Water Singapore 2017 Shevon Ng participated in the Earth Day event at the Queenstown Campus on April 20, as students celebrated the event with the theme 'Climate Change in Action'.

Ms Lee, who was crowned Miss Earth last year, encouraged students to reduce food waste saying that is one of the best initiatives one can adopt to save the planet. Miss Ng also had similar advise for students, saying that the planet is shared by all animals who deserve to be treated with respect. She underscored that all lives should be regarded equally.

During the event, students participated in an array of activities and competitions that were conducted to create maximum awareness and impact. The range of events included a paper presentation by students, fashion show "Earth Day SuperHero", pocket poetry competition and lastly, Eco flicks movie competition

In addition to the flurry of activity and excitement on campus, NEA was invited to set-up booth to raise public awareness on Climate Change. Primary school students also set up booths and posters to boost understanding of Climate Change.

The posters included insightful methods and suggestions on how to take care of the earth and preserve it for the future generations. They inspired their peers to take this cause forward by spreading the message and taking action before it's too late!

The students took the pledge to be committed towards their home planet and do their bit to save Gaia.
