“Every ending has a new beginning”                        

And with the end of secondary school for the GIIS Queenstown CBSE batch of 2018, began the latest chapter in their lives as they took on the roles of young global citizens, ready to lead and inspire. On February 23, students of grade 11 successfully put up their highly anticipated farewell event for the seniors.

The event, SPARKLE ON , kicked off with a speech by Mr. Atul Temurnikar, executive chairman and co-founder of GSF (Global Schools Foundation), where he listed his life lessons and tips for making the most out of life in today’s “my way or the highway” world where everyone is right!  After his inspiring speech, the stage curtains opened to a mellifluous performance by the student choir, who sang their rendition of ‘So Long, Farewell’ from ‘The Sound of Music’.

Ms Madhu Khanna motivated sparkling stars to excel, explore and find their niche in the rapidly changing world around them. Teary eyed as they were ready to cross the threshold of school, yet excited about new beginning - Rahul Parthasarathy, Poulina Ghosh, Chaitanya Baranwal and Vedant Gupta, from the graduating batch shared their precious memories on stage.

In keeping with the tradition of a GIIS gala farewell, the speeches were followed by a handing-over ceremony. The student council members of the graduating batches passed lit candles to the students of the next batch, symbolising the promise made by the juniors to carry on the legacy of the seniors - bracing themselves to undertake the responsibility of the betterment of the school.

The fun was about to begin. It was time for a series of power packed, entertaining and well-rehearsed performances by the talented students of class 11! The nightingales of GIIS- girls from 11th grade performed a beautiful medley of western music to thunderous applause from the graduating batch and then the energy in the house reached its zenith with a stunning dance performance by groovy 11th graders. The evening continued with a special video montage created by the students of grade11 that projected the wonderful journey of the 12th graders, which showcased on a lighter note - their embarrassing moments! It was surely a walk down the memory lane for each and everyone .It looked like the fun would never end as the seniors entertained their loving teachers and everyone present in a “fun game show.”

The entire batch was awarded with certificates and their graduating photos presented by our beloved Teachers. Each one had a unique title and it was truly relatable to their personality!  

Amidst teary eyed hugs, presenting customised parting gifts, receiving glorious titles, a feeling of hiraeth in every heart, soaked in pathos of sadness of leaving their second home, eyes glistening with tears and hopes of the future,  amidst exuberant cake cutting and gallant photo taking  in photo booths in smart tuxedoes and elegant sarees, the dapper dudes and beautiful girls of the graduating batch proudly crossed the threshold of the school thanking their teachers for their warmth, love and top notch education.

GIIS wishes all students for a bright future and congratulates them as they completed a milestone in their lives with ease and grace!
