Grade 1 and 2 students of GIIS Hadapsar recently participated in engaging and meaningful activities focused on self-care and family care, helping them understand the importance of positive thinking, confidence, and strong family bonds.
For Grade 1 students, the activity titled “Mirror Activity with Positive Affirmations” was conducted to build self-confidence and encourage positive self-talk. The objective was to help children appreciate themselves and develop a healthy self-image from an early age.
During the session, each student was given a mirror and asked to look at their reflection. Guided by the teacher, the children repeated simple yet powerful affirmations such as, “I am happy, I am kind, I am smart, and I can do my best.” Smiling at themselves while saying these words made the experience both joyful and impactful.
The students actively participated and showed great enthusiasm while expressing positive thoughts about themselves. Many displayed increased confidence and happiness during the activity, creating a warm and supportive classroom environment.
The Mirror Activity proved successful in helping students understand the importance of self-love and positive affirmations. It also contributed to their emotional well-being and confidence-building.
Meanwhile, Grade 2 students took part in the “I Care – Family Tree” activity, which aimed to teach them the value of caring for parents and family members.
The activity began with students drawing the trunk and branches of a tree in their scrapbooks to create the base of their family tree. Teachers then distributed colorful paper leaves, on which students wrote how they show care and love for their parents.
Their thoughtful responses included helping with household chores, respecting elders, listening to parents, and spending quality time with family members. This allowed students to reflect on their actions and creatively express their emotions.
Once completed, the students pasted the leaves onto the branches, transforming their family trees into vibrant symbols of love, gratitude, and strong family relationships.
The session concluded with students proudly sharing their “I Care Family Tree,” showcasing not only their creativity but also the important values they had learned.
Both activities were interactive, enjoyable, and highly successful in promoting emotional well-being, gratitude, and positive family values among young learners at GIIS Hadapsar.
