Students of Grades 3 to 5 at GIIS Hadapsar recently participated in an exciting and engaging “Math Magic Activity” aimed at strengthening their understanding of place value concepts through interactive learning.

The session began with a quick revision of the basics of place value, helping students refresh their understanding before moving on to the hands-on activity. Adding an element of fun and excitement, students rolled dice multiple times — four, five, six, or even seven times — to generate random digits. Using these digits, they created numbers of varying lengths and explored different ways of representing them.

As part of the activity, students were guided to express their numbers in three different forms — Standard Form, Expanded Form, and Word Form. For example, students converted numbers such as 1,23,456 into expanded form as 1,00,000 + 20,000 + 3,000 + 400 + 50 + 6, and also represented them in words as “One lakh twenty-three thousand four hundred fifty-six.”

After completing the task, students carefully reviewed their work to ensure accuracy in all three representations. The activity not only reinforced their understanding of number formation and place value but also encouraged attention to detail and mathematical precision.

The “Math Magic Activity” successfully helped students enhance their mathematical thinking, improve their ability to convert numbers into different formats, and build confidence in applying these concepts in practical situations.

Overall, the activity transformed mathematics into an enjoyable learning experience. By combining play with education, GIIS Hadapsar once again demonstrated its commitment to making classroom learning meaningful, engaging, and effective for young learners.
