“Our primary concern is the safety of our children” — with this guiding thought, the GMP segment of GIIS Hadapsar enthusiastically celebrated ‘Safety Week’, creating awareness among young learners about the importance of safety in everyday life through a series of engaging and meaningful activities.
The week-long celebration aimed at nurturing responsible attitudes and behaviour among children, helping them understand the significance of being safe at home, in school, on the playground, while travelling, and on the roads. Teachers thoughtfully designed interactive sessions that encouraged children to actively participate, learn, and practice important safety protocols in a fun-filled environment.
Through stories with morals, songs, rhymes, and simple hands-on activities, the young learners were introduced to essential safety rules and practices. The activities helped children understand how safety is not just a rule but a habit that must be followed every day.
One of the most enjoyed themes during the week was Road Safety. Children enthusiastically learned about traffic rules such as obeying stop signs and traffic lights, wearing seatbelts and helmets, maintaining safe distances, following speed limits, and understanding why driving without a licence is unsafe. The sessions were designed to make learning enjoyable and relatable for the little ones.
As part of Fire Safety awareness, students were taken on an exciting field trip to the Amanora Fire Station, where they got an opportunity to witness real-life fire safety practices and understand the role of firefighters in protecting the community. The visit left the children fascinated and more aware about emergency safety measures.
Adding to the experiential learning, teachers also organised a creative pretend-play session on Stranger Danger. Familiar settings such as a home, a shopping mall, and a playground were recreated to help children identify safe and unsafe situations and learn how to respond appropriately.
The school strongly believes that children learn best through participation and experience. By actively involving students in creating and understanding the safety theme throughout the week, the programme successfully left a lasting impression on their young minds. The simple message of “ABC – Always Be Careful” became an easy yet powerful takeaway for the children.
Through initiatives like Safety Week, GIIS Hadapsar continues to foster awareness, responsibility, and life skills among students, reinforcing the belief that “Safety Is a Choice We Make.”
