On the occasion of Earth Day, the Primary Segment at GIIS Hadapsar celebrated the day with great enthusiasm and awareness through a series of meaningful and creative activities. The celebration aimed to nurture environmental responsibility among young learners and encourage them to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
The objective of organising these activities was to create awareness about environmental conservation, encourage responsible habits, and help students understand that small individual actions can lead to significant positive changes for the Earth. The activities also focused on promoting sustainable living by encouraging students to creatively reuse waste materials instead of discarding them. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of the 4Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recover, and Recycle – and developed an appreciation for the responsible use of natural resources.
Students of Grade 3 participated in the activity titled “My Eco Habits Chart,” where they drew and wrote five small habits they could follow to protect the Earth. These included saving water, switching off lights, avoiding food wastage, and reducing the use of plastic. The charts were beautifully decorated with colorful drawings and thoughtful messages, reflecting the students’ understanding of simple yet impactful actions.
Grade 4 students engaged in 4R’s Booklet Making based on the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover. They designed informative booklets explaining each of the 4Rs with examples and illustrations. Their creativity and awareness about sustainable practices were clearly visible through their well-prepared and neatly presented work.
Grade 5 students took part in the inspiring Earth Day Pledge Tree activity. Each student wrote one eco-friendly promise on a leaf-shaped cutout, such as “I will save water” or “I will plant more trees.” These leaves were displayed on a large tree board, symbolizing unity and collective responsibility towards protecting the planet. The Pledge Tree served as a powerful reminder of the commitments made by the students.
The activities helped students develop awareness about environmental conservation, adopt eco-friendly habits, and understand the importance of the 4R principles. They also demonstrated responsibility and commitment towards protecting the Earth through creative expression and meaningful participation.
Through these engaging activities, students showcased their concern and dedication towards building a greener and more sustainable future. The celebration not only enhanced their knowledge but also inspired them to become responsible global citizens committed to protecting the environment.
