Global Indian International School (GIIS), Hadapsar celebrated Doctors' Day with a series of engaging and educational activities for students of Grades 3, 4 and 5, fostering awareness about healthy living while expressing gratitude towards the medical fraternity. The thoughtfully planned celebrations encouraged students to understand the importance of preventive healthcare, adopt healthy lifestyle habits, and recognise the invaluable contributions of healthcare professionals.
A key highlight of the celebration was an interactive Healthy Lifestyle Session conducted for Grade 4 students by Dr Shubhangi Pravishal Adling (MBBS, MD). During the session, Dr Adling explained the importance of balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and healthy daily habits in leading a healthy life. She also spoke about the role of essential vitamins in strengthening the body and maintaining overall well-being. Students actively participated in the session by answering questions, sharing their knowledge of nutritious food choices, and engaging in lively discussions, making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable.
The celebrations extended beyond the classroom with creative and value-based activities. Grade 3 students participated in the "Health Heroes Clinic – Thank a Healthcare Hero" activity, creating heartfelt thank-you cards to express their appreciation for doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals. Students of Grades 4 and 5 took part in the "Green Prescription Challenge," where they pledged to embrace healthy habits such as eating nutritious food, staying physically active, drinking adequate water and reducing screen time. These activities reinforced the importance of gratitude while inspiring students to become advocates of healthy living.
The initiative reflected UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 – Good Health and Well-being by raising awareness about preventive healthcare and encouraging informed lifestyle choices. It also aligned with GIIS' 9GEMS™ framework under GEM 3: Sports, Health and Fitness Excellence, reinforcing the school's commitment to nurturing physically healthy, responsible and well-informed individuals.
Through these meaningful activities, GIIS Hadapsar successfully transformed Doctors' Day into a celebration of learning, appreciation and wellness. By inspiring students to value the dedication of healthcare professionals and adopt positive health practices from an early age, the school continues to cultivate lifelong habits that contribute to healthier communities and a brighter future.
