Two students chosen to represent Singapore at international indoor cricket tournament

Grade 7 students Malhar Kulkarni and Aaryan Modi have been selected in the 13&U Boys Division of Singapore National Squad for the upcoming Australian Indoor Cricket National Championship and Indoor Cricket World Cup 2018.

Aaryan and Malhar will be travelling to Australia in July 2018 to participate in the Australian Indoor Cricket National Championship. The other countries participating are Australia, New Zealand, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, UAE, Malaysia and England. The other tournamnet, Indoor Cricket World Cup 2018, to be held in New Zealand, is scheduled for the first week of October 2018.

Mr Piyush Modi and Mrs Mamta Modi, the parents of Aaryan expressed their gratitude to the GIIS cricket coach Mr Munish Arora. They said that “ we are grateful to Mr Arora for grooming Aaryan and leading him to represent GIIS in the prestigious tournaments.” Aaryan represented GIIS in the SCA Junior Indoor League and was awarded ‘Young Talent Award’. Following this he was invited to the coaching sessions from where he was selected for the two tournamnets.

Indoor cricket is different from regular field cricket as the game requires different skills and strategy in comparison. Every player has to be adept in all the three skills - balling, batting, and fielding. In addition, indoor cricket requires the players to be more agile as the number of players in a team are less.
