As SMART Campus is all set to commence operations in July 2018, an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm was experienced within parents and students who have had the chance to visit the new campus. When asked what has captivated their attention, both students and parents alike cite the various skills-based labs.
Students expressed excitement in getting to cultivate their skills in personal areas of interests, while parents are confident that the different spaces ranging from culinary to environment labs will train students with the right skills to get a well-rounded education.
“I have never seen a culinary lab like this before”, said Aparajith from Class 9. The young boy said he looks forward to recreating his mother’s dishes in the lab. Each culinary lab is equipped with a chef station, several workstations and two video cameras to capture close-up shots of the chef preparing the dish which will allow students to see the cooking in minutest details.
Ms Priti Telang, whose daughter Kimaya is studying in Class 9, highlighted how the Environment Lab will allow her child to learn more about nature and global warming, which will, in turn, evolve her to be a true global citizen. The Environment Lab is designed to let students think of innovative solutions to global warming and instil in them the green knowledge of urban farming and its’ benefits.
In a technology-driven era, a curriculum that exclusively focuses on books will not suffice in preparing students for the competitive world of 21st century. The skills-based labs at SMART Campus will be ideal to hone the talents of each student to give them an extra edge for challenges of tomorrow.
