On 7 October 2026, the GIIS SMART Campus community gathered for a heartening celebration at the Global School Awards ceremony for IGCSE Classes 9 and 10. Bringing together proud parents, dedicated educators, and school leaders, the uplifting evening honoured extraordinary academic distinction and the unwavering perseverance behind every success. The event beautifully highlighted GIIS’s steadfast commitment to fostering academic excellence while nurturing well-rounded, vibrant young minds through holistic education.

Adding to the warmth and prestige of the occasion, Guest of Honour Mr. Balaji Bhakthavatchalam—Account General Manager for Digital Insurance at DXC Technology—graced the event to present the awards and inspire students with insights from his distinguished three-decade career in technology and insurance. The ceremony celebrated diverse dimensions of student talent and scholastic brilliance across several key categories:

·       Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam GIIS Award for Academic Proficiency

·       Justice CS Dharmadhikari GIIS Award for Co-Curricular Excellence

·       Chandu Borde GIIS Award for Sports Excellence

·       GSF President’s Award for All Round Excellence

·       Subject Proficiency Awards

·       GenNext Awards

In keeping with GIIS’s mission to empower high achievers, deserving students were awarded Global FUTURE-READY Merit Scholarship certificates, recognising their stellar academic potential and supporting their future ambitions. Members of the leadership team and academic supervisors warmly presented the honours, while absent awardees received heartfelt congratulations and best wishes from the community.

The celebration was enriched by a graceful Odissi dance performance set to “Shri Krishna Govind Hare Murari, Hey Nath Narayan Vasudeva.” Through expressive abhinaya and elegant mudras, student performers captivated the audience, bringing a soulful and culturally rich dimension to the evening.

Principal Ms. Deepika Sodhi addressed the gathering with uplifting words, praising the students’ dedication and inspiring them to reach even higher. Closing the ceremony, Ms. Gayatri Srinivasan, Event Coordinator and Head of Sciences, delivered a warm vote of thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the school community and the dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff who made the evening possible.

Special focus was also given to creative leadership and community service through the GenNext Challenge awards. Aligned with GIIS’s signature 9 GEMS framework, the challenges highlighted student initiatives in sustainable city planning, the Green Pitch, community service, Green and Kindness Ambassadors, Writing for a Better Tomorrow, and the AI Impact Expedition—showcasing how academic rigor combined with innovative thinking prepares students to make meaningful real-world impacts.

It was a truly memorable evening filled with pride, joy, and shared celebration for awardees and their families, reaffirming GIIS’s passion for cultivating academic success and excellence in every form.
