GIIS SMART Campus Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival 2026 with Music, Tradition, and Culture

On 2 October 2026 the Department of Foreign Languages, GIIS SMART Campus hosted its annual Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration with colour, music and tradition. The event brought together Secondary students, parents, teachers, support staff and the wider school community for an afternoon dedicated to Chinese culture, language, music, creativity and tradition.

The stage segment opened with a warm Welcome Address, followed by the Principal's Address and the Guest-of-Honour Address delivered by Mr Kevin Cai, together with felicitations to the school community. Students then took to the stage with a series of performances that beautifully captured the essence of the festival, each one the product of weeks of collaborative rehearsal between teachers and students:

A Cultural Skit - bringing the legends and folklore of the Mid-Autumn Festival to life through drama.

A Traditional Guzheng Performance - featuring classic Chinese melodies performed live.

Traditional Dances – vibrant and energetic routines performed by student groups.

Chinese Poetry Recitation & Song – a heartfelt tribute to the full moon and the spirit of family reunion.

The programme closed with a Vote of Thanks delivered by the student emcees, followed by the official declaration opening the cultural booths to all attendees.

Following the stage performances, attendees moved to the interactive cultural booths, where students, parents and staff engaged side by side in hands-on traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival. These booths were especially effective in drawing parents and students into shared activity rather than passive viewing, reflecting the collaborative, community-centred spirit the Department set out to create:

Mooncake Tasting, an opportunity to discover a favourite Mid-Autumn delicacy.

Tea Tasting, experiencing traditional tea brewing and tasting customs.

Calligraphy, trying basic brushwork and writing festive greetings.

Lantern Crafting, creating and decorating personal paper lanterns.

The Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration 2026 stood as a wonderful reflection of GIIS SMART Campus’ spirit of community, culture and togetherness. Through performance, tradition and shared celebration, students, parents and staff came together under one roof to honour a festival that, at its heart, is about family, gratitude and connection.
