CBSE 10 students taste stupendous success in boards, 100% cohort stands triumphant  

Students of the Queenstown and East Coast campuses surged past a major milestone in May 2018, with 100% cohort passing the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) 10 boards with flying colours.

Niharika Goyal from Queenstown campus was the overall topper with a score of 98% overall, while Sakshi Saraf and Arsha Ajith came in second with a score of 97.7%. Dhvani Shah and Visshal Natarajan scored 97.2% and stood third.

For East Coast, Rujuta Athalye was the topper with 96.8%. Sruti Srinivasan with an overall score of 94.2% came in second while Deeksha Ramesh and Himadri Joshi stood third with a score of 94% overall.

Six students scored a perfect 100 marks in 3 subjects including Mathematics, French and Foundation of Information Technology from Queenstown, while five students scored 100 marks in 2 subjects including Mathematics and Foundation of Information Technology from East Coast.

“These are some great results produced by our Class 10 CBSE students from Singapore, a clear reflection of how dedicated our students and teachers are,” said Mr Kamal Gupta, Chief Operating Officer, Global Schools Foundation. “Many congratulations to them and a proud moment for all of us.”

The percentage of students scoring an aggregate of 90% and above was 50% for Queenstown and 37% for East Coast. As many as 105 students had appeared for the March examinations.

Reacting to the results, GIIS Queenstown Principal Madhu Khanna said she was proud of the achievements of all the students. “The students put in tremendous hard work all throughout the year, and the results are a clear testimony that their efforts have been well rewarded.” She commended the teachers on their dedication as well.   

East Coast Principal Melissa Maria said: “It is a commendable performance by our EC students who wrote in the CBSE national exam format for the first time.” She also complimented the teachers and CBSE coordinator for their tireless work to ensure every student was well-equipped to understand the pattern of assessment. “Our parents have trusted us and been our constant support. I am indeed happy and proud of my team and students at EC campus,” Ms Melissa said. 

This was the first batch of students to appear for the CBSE exams, after the board scrapped the grade-based marking system and reverted to the marks-based grading.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS:

Queenstown

  • 72 students and 3 differently-abled students appeared for the exams
  • Overall school average 85.6%
  • 6 students secured perfect score of 100 marks in 3 subjects
  • 50% students have scored an aggregate of 90% and above
  • 86.1% students have scored an aggregate of 75% and above (Distinction)

East Coast

  • 30 students appeared for the exams
  • Overall school average 81%
  • 5 students secured perfect score of 100 marks in 2 subjects
  • 37% students have scored an aggregate of 90% and above
  • 70% students have scored an aggregate of more than 75%
