On April 30, GIIS East Coast Campus hosted its annual Investiture Ceremony — a momentous occasion that formally inducted the newly elected student leaders into the Student Council. It was a day marked by tradition, symbolism, and purpose, as students, parents, teachers, and school leaders witnessed the passing of responsibilities to a fresh cohort of young changemakers.
The ceremony commenced with a ceremonial march led by Head Boy Pranav Ramnath (CBSE Grade 10) and Head Girl Harshadha Ganapathiraman (IGCSE Grade 10), followed by other members of the student council. Principal Ms. Deepika Sodhi, academic coordinators, Country Director Mr. Prashant Bafna, and Guest of Honour Ms. Ishika Sircar, APAC Head of Strategic Sourcing Contracts at Meta, graced the occasion with their presence and support. A performance of “Reach for the Stars” by Grade 5 students beautifully set the tone, reminding all present of the aspirations and hopes pinned on these student leaders.
This year’s ceremony was particularly special as it witnessed the formal launch of the 9 GEMS Leadership Clubs — a first for East Coast Campus. In a touching gesture that reflected GIIS’ deep commitment to collaborative growth, the club leaders were badged by their parents and teacher mentors. In addition to the Head Boy and Head Girl, badges were conferred on Junior Heads, House Captains, Sports Leaders, Deputies, Prefects, Ambassadors, and Class Representatives — each role a testament to the trust the school places in its students and a reminder of the values they are expected to uphold.
The event stood as a powerful affirmation of GIIS’s philosophy of nurturing holistic development, where leadership is about integrity, courage, teamwork, and empathy. Principal Ms. Deepika Sodhi expressed her pride in the newly appointed council and congratulated them for embracing their roles with such enthusiasm and grace. With strong support from teachers, volunteers, and staff, the event concluded on a high note, leaving behind cherished memories and a renewed sense of purpose.
