Dr Kaushik Ghatak, a distinguished leader with over 30 years of global experience in Business and Digital Transformation, recently visited the GIIS East Coast Campus for the Leadership Lecture Series recently. Dr Ghatak's journey through leadership roles in Asia-Pacific and the USA has been nothing short of inspiring.

During his presentation, Dr Ghatak emphasised that "Change is the only constant," encouraging students to view it as a gateway to endless opportunities. He explained that embracing change is a transformative mindset that can empower individuals, advising students to be patient and kind to themselves as they navigate transitions. By cultivating a mindset of growth, acceptance, flexibility, and self-care, students can embrace change as a positive force in their lives.

Dr Ghatak also highlighted the crucial role of soft skills in our fast-paced world, underscoring their importance for effective communication, collaboration, and adaptability. Traditionally, educators have emphasised academic ability in achieving success, but recent research challenges this paradigm. Soft skills are foundational for thriving in an ever-changing professional and personal landscape.

He concluded by emphasising that the importance of soft skills is often undervalued, and there is far less training provided for them than for hard skills like coding. Effective communication, taking initiative, and active listening are crucial skills that are often overlooked. He underscored that these soft skills are essential for success and should be nurtured alongside academic achievements.
