A momentous day dawned at Global Indian International School (GIIS) Dubai as the school proudly hosted its first-ever TEDxYouth event — a celebration of ideas, creativity, and collaboration. Themed “The Third Space”, the event marked a significant milestone in the school’s journey, providing students with a platform to explore the space where imagination, dialogue, and innovation truly thrive.

From the early hours of the morning, the campus was abuzz with excitement. Lead organisers Aaron and Advika, along with the logistics team and teachers-in-charge, arrived as early as 7:30 a.m. to put the finishing touches on the stage, seating, and décor. Every corner of the venue reflected meticulous planning and the team’s passion for excellence. By 8:30 a.m., the full organising team joined in for final rehearsals, ensuring that every technical and visual detail was perfected.

As the clock struck nine, the doors opened to a vibrant crowd of speakers, sponsors, guests, and students, each brimming with curiosity and anticipation. The event began with a touching opening ceremony, featuring the UAE National Anthem, Quran recitation, and a soulful performance by the GIIS Dubai Choir. A warm welcome by the lead organisers was followed by an inspiring message from the Principal, setting the tone for a day of thought-provoking discussions. In a symbolic gesture of appreciation, sponsors were presented with a “Sapling of Life” — representing growth, sustainability, and gratitude.

The first speaker session kicked off with four exceptional student speakers from across the UAE, whose powerful talks set the stage for a day of inspiration. In a moving display of inclusivity, GIIS Dubai collaborated with the Manzil Centre, offering their talented students a platform to exhibit their artwork, books, and handmade crafts. Their heartfelt stories and presentations became one of the most memorable highlights of the day.

A lively midday performance by StudioRepublik reenergised the audience, filling the hall with rhythm, laughter, and connection.

The subsequent speaker sessions featured a student exchange with GIIS Abu Dhabi and several captivating talks by students and industry leaders, each exploring “The Third Space” through unique and personal perspectives. The event concluded with a Speaker Plaque Ceremony, honouring all participants for their dedication, effort, and contribution.

Behind the scenes, months of planning, brainstorming, and problem-solving culminated in an event that exceeded every expectation. Despite a few challenges along the way, the organising team’s perseverance, teamwork, and creative spirit made TEDxGIISDubai a resounding success.

More than just a conference, TEDxYouth at GIIS Dubai became an experience of empowerment — one that encouraged students to think critically, communicate effectively, manage time, and discover the power of collaboration.

As the applause faded and the lights dimmed, one thing was clear — “The Third Space” had truly come alive, and with it, a new chapter of inspiration began at GIIS Dubai.
