Dubai: The corridors of Global Indian International School (GIIS) Dubai buzzed with purpose and passion as the school hosted the second edition of GIISMUN 2025—a grand celebration of diplomacy, dialogue, and youth leadership. Building on the legacy of its inaugural conference, this year’s Model United Nations stood as a shining testament to the power of student initiative, meticulous preparation, and a collective aspiration to understand the world more deeply.

The event opened with grace and grandeur. The Colour Party proudly presented the flags of the United Nations and the United Arab Emirates, embodying the spirit of unity and international cooperation. A soulful Quran recitation and the resonant notes of the UAE National Anthem set a tone of dignity and reverence. As the specially crafted MUN trailer played, excitement rippled through the audience — a promise of thought-provoking debate and youthful diplomacy ahead.

Principal Ms. Anita Singh delivered an inspiring address, urging students to view the conference as more than an academic exercise — but as a step towards becoming empathetic, responsible global citizens. The moment was further elevated by the presence of the Chief Guest, Dr. Ram Shankar, Director CBSE (Regional Office and COE), whose words encouraged the delegates to think critically, speak courageously, and lead compassionately.

The opening ceremony brimmed with colour and creativity. A captivating dance performance, a melodious choir, and a heartfelt welcome address by the Chief Advisor reflected the enthusiasm and unity that defined the event. The Secretary-Generals, in their opening remarks, articulated a shared vision of collaboration and purpose before introducing the Secretariat and Committee Chairs. The atmosphere reached its crescendo as the conference was officially declared open, marking the beginning of two days of intense and insightful deliberations.

Behind this polished execution lay months of tireless work and unwavering commitment. Guided by Teacher-in-Charge Ms. Sunita Wadhe, Secretaries-General Aryesh Biswas and Advika Choudhury, and a dynamic student secretariat, the GIISMUN team spent over four months planning every detail with precision. From appointing dedicated Under Secretaries-General and Directors for various portfolios to ensuring every delegate felt welcomed and prepared, the student leaders demonstrated professionalism well beyond their years.

The marketing team generated excitement through creative campaigns and engaging Instagram reels, while the design team gave GIISMUN its distinctive identity — from elegant glass plaques and medals to thoughtfully designed notepads and name tags that echoed the ethos of the United Nations.

In the days leading up to the event, the campus underwent a remarkable transformation. Volunteers worked tirelessly to convert classrooms into committee rooms that mirrored the ambience of the UN. Each table adorned with UAE and UN flags became a symbol of diplomacy, collaboration, and shared humanity.

As delegates from schools across the UAE filled the rooms, the air was charged with anticipation. What followed were two days of spirited debate, critical thought, and meaningful collaboration as young diplomats discussed global challenges — from sustainability to human rights — and sought consensus through dialogue and respect.

Throughout the event, the seamless coordination between the faculty mentors and the student secretariat ensured that every session ran smoothly. The teamwork, perseverance, and resilience displayed by the organisers reflected the true essence of leadership and learning in action.

By the time the final gavels fell, GIISMUN 2025 had accomplished far more than hosting a successful conference. It had nurtured confidence, empathy, and a sense of global responsibility among all who participated.
