In a heartwarming celebration of Earth Day, GIIS Dubai, an eco-conscious institution dedicated to sustainability, hosted a vibrant array of activities from Kindergarten to Grade 12, inspiring students to become responsible stewards of the environment.

The day began with the youngest learners in Kindergarten 1 embracing simple yet powerful habits. Children learned the importance of reducing water usage while brushing their teeth, switching off lights when leaving a room, and avoiding paper waste to help protect forests. These fundamental practices are instrumental in shaping environmentally conscious adults from an early age.

The atmosphere was festive, with students dressed in green, blue, and brown — symbolizing Earth’s natural elements. The celebration introduced children to the 3Rs of sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Students brought recyclable items from home and placed them in designated bins, actively participating in waste segregation and demonstrating their understanding of the concept. To add a creative touch, students wore headgear depicting the 3Rs and visited the Al Boustan area of the school, where they learned firsthand about the importance of plants in maintaining a healthy planet.

In the primary grades, students of Grades 1 and 2 took part in an eco-friendly fashion show, showcasing attire crafted from recycled materials. Their innovative and stylish designs promoted sustainability and offered a striking visual reminder of the potential of reuse. The programme opened with a reflective message about the significance of environmental responsibility, followed by an impactful skit and an informative presentation on how to protect our planet. The assembly concluded with inspiring quotes and an engaging quiz that tested students' knowledge of sustainability practices, leaving the audience both informed and inspired.
