BENGALURU, 11 NOVEMBER, 2018 - Kannada Rajyotsav celebration at GIobal Indian International School, Whitefield was witnessed by all the students, teachers and staff with a feeling of pride of residing in and belonging to one of the most vibrant and colourful States in India. The significance of November 1st to every Kannadiga is that, it was this day in the year 1956 when all the Kannada language-speaking regions of South India were merged to form the state of Karnataka. A proud moment that is cherished every year by students with happiness and various events. The school ground was a colourful paradise with red and yellow reflecting the pride of Kannada culture, art and tradition. These colours symbolise the sacred feel and the prosperity in the State. The flag hoisting ceremony was conducted on the ground followed by the chanting of Kannada anthem, "Jaya Bharatha Jananiya Tanujate" meaning mother and motherland are greater than heaven. Adding to that Global Indian International School, Whitefield, celebrated Kannada Rajyotsav remembering the great men and women of Karnataka and paying respect to all of them.
The events showcased by Grade 6- 9 students, on the school ground, included a welcome dance, drill performance, Kolata, group song, great Kannada Jnanapita Award poet's fashion parade show. The Special celebrations extended in the Audio Visual Room where there was the Lighting of lamp ceremony, dance performances and fusion dance by KG 1 and KG 2 children, Jogada Siri (group song) and a group dance. The uniqueness of the culture and tradition prevalent in Karnataka was shown by way of the various dance forms and the richness in the area of literature and art expressed by the famous poets and the painters. The traditional folk dance -Kolata, the drum dance- Dollu Kunitha, folk dance- Veeragase and the theatre dance form- Yakshagana were among the main performances that enthralled everyone.
