Second Runner Up Title for GIIS Whitefield at the IMC MQH Best Practices Competition

GIIS Whitefield has won the Second Runner up award in the Education category at the Annual MQH Best Practices Competition. This was organized by IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Award Trust and was scheduled via the virtual platform from 6-9th July 2021. The Competition is regarded as an excellent platform for organizations to showcase the winning Best Practices from the different organizations that have been implemented in different processes and shown positive results.

GIIS Whitefield was represented by Teacher Ms.Sukhdeep Kaur and Headmistress Pre Primary Ms. Preetha D’Mello to showcase the presentation on the topic – ‘The Flipside -The Dark Side of Social Media'.

This is a best practice adopted by Whitefield Campus and it involved a group of highly enthusiastic, revolutionary, and progressive students - Tanisha Khanagav, Ansh Gulati, and Samiksha Menon who came up with very good insights. The entire team basked in a lot of observations. More specifically, the effects of increased exposure of the young generation to social media which has gone to an alarming level during the COVID-19 pandemic times.

It is a known and accepted fact that Social media is very popular among the young generation. There are many teenagers who engage with social media without analyzing the impact of social media on their physical and mental health. After thorough research and analysis, supported by polls, GIIS Whitefield team proposed the solutions to mitigate this issue and find a balanced perspective to lead healthier lifestyles specifically for students in the age group of 12 to 18 years.

Social Media when used in moderation and for the right purpose, reaps very good results. This is a part of every teenager’s life. Yet the required self-control in terms of usage would bring in a positive discipline in their lifestyle. The project focused on achievable solutions to help in optimal use of this medium by students.
